Two in custody after leading Oklahoma City police on chase Two people are in police custody after leading officers on a chase Friday afternoon through northwest Oklahoma City. According to police, the chase started near Northwest 122nd Street and May Avenue, when officers tried to stop a vehicle because they believed it was involved in a carjacking/robbery. The driver took off, leading officers on a chase. Police said two people bailed out of the car at McGee Park near Hefner Road and Western Avenue. They were both taken into custody. According to police, the car was believed to have been stolen late Tuesday night.

The chase continued into oncoming traffic, at a “high speed,” police said. The police chase ended with the suspect shot by officers, according to Phoenix Police . The suspect was seen attempting to carjack a nearby vehicle. Despite earlier reports from officials that the suspect was tased, officials later said the suspect was not.

As the vehicle was driven away, the suspects inside fired several rounds at the officer between 66th and Paseo to 65th and Woodland Avenue.

Police pursued the vehicle to Truman Road and Locust Street, where officers used a PIT maneuver to stop the car. The driver and two others in the car were taken into custody.

Some of the most intense gunfire happened on 67th Street where neighbors say bullets hit cars and homes.

“It was really freaky. Everybody was a little shook up, especially the kids,” said Marteila Tabron, whose children were outside during the shooting.

James Williams’s truck now has a bullet hole through the driver’s side door.

“Seemed like a movie or something,” Williams said. “It’s got to stop. I don’t know why people are like that.”

Police say they tried to stop Tesla Wetzel, on Route 74, for an insurance cancellation. According to police, Wetzel kept going and eventually turned off Furnace Road and into a cornfield. That's where she apparently abandoned her car, while it was still running. A passenger in the car told state police, she asked Wetzel to stop the car during the chase. The passenger said, she didn't know Wetzel, and was hitching a ride. State police later found Wetzel hiding in nearby cornfield. Wetzel faces a long list of charges, including DUI.
