Two in custody after leading Oklahoma City police on chase

Two in custody after leading Oklahoma City police on chase Two people are in police custody after leading officers on a chase Friday afternoon through northwest Oklahoma City. According to police, the chase started near Northwest 122nd Street and May Avenue, when officers tried to stop a vehicle because they believed it was involved in a carjacking/robbery. The driver took off, leading officers on a chase. Police said two people bailed out of the car at McGee Park near Hefner Road and Western Avenue. They were both taken into custody. According to police, the car was believed to have been stolen late Tuesday night.

Police officials on Thursday issued a warning against card skimmers found on ATMs across the Oklahoma City area.

According to Oklahoma City police, these card skimmers are very small, making them difficult to see. The card skimmer collects data from the user’s ATM/debit card and a small camera hidden on or near the ATM records the user’s PIN, police said.

ATM users can attempt to protect their PIN by covering the screen/PIN pad while entering their PIN, so that critical piece of information is concealed from the camera view, police officials said.

Inmate dies after being found unresponsive at Oklahoma County Jail, authorities say

Inmate dies after being found unresponsive at Oklahoma County Jail, authorities say Authorities are investigating the death of an inmate who died after being found unresponsive at the Oklahoma County Jail, according to officials with the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office. Daryl Clinton, 56, was booked into the jail on Aug. 6 after he was involved in a one-vehicle car crash in Oklahoma City. Clinton was taken to the hospital before being booked into the jail on a complaint of possession of controlled dangerous drugs with intent to distribute, officials said. After being booked into the jail, officials said Clinton was placed under medical evaluation. He was found unresponsive around 4 a.m. on Aug.

The camera may be concealed in what would otherwise appear to be a normal part of the machine, police said, and it is typically very small, appearing to most to be nothing more than a small pinhole.

Anyone who believes they may have fallen victim to the skimmers is urged to contact their bank immediately and report it the police department in the city the ATM is located. Residents in Oklahoma City can call 405-231-2121.
