Edgar Perez, 46, was blasted in the back outside Church of the Holy Nativity near Rochambeau and Bainbridge Aves. in Norwood around 3:20 a.m., police said. The church rents out a banquet hall in the back for parties and events.

Perez’s daughter was baptized earlier that day at a Hunts Point church, prompting the celebration, a friend said.

“I heard ‘pop, pop, pop.’ I don’t remember how many, but they were loud,” said a neighbor who declined to give her name. “I got to the corner . . . and I seen a guy on the floor. I see blood on the floor, people yelling."

Perez was rushed to Montefiore Medical Center but couldn’t be saved.

The gunman fled. Cops did not immediately have a description of him.

“I heard three gunshots,” said neighbor Sergio Rodriguez, 45, a cook whose nephews attended the victim’s party. “I ran to the window and I see a lot of people running out and I see a man on the floor.”

Rodriguez ran out with his wife, fearful one of nephews had been shot.

“hen I arrived there, I saw who it was. It was Edgar,” Rodriguez said. “I saw it was him. There was a lot of commotion, a lot of noise and people running.”

Perez, a father of three, worked in a deli making sandwiches.

“He is a very good father. He does everything for the family," Rodgriguez said. “He is very nice, very hardworking.”
