Chase on I-85 after man tries to hit deputy with vehicle during traffic stop, deputies say
A police chase came to an end on Interstate 85 in Spartanburg County on Thursday afternoon after a person tried to hit a deputy with a vehicle during a traffic stop. (Raw video from Sky 4 above) Lt. Jimmy Bolt, with the Greenville County Sheriff's Office, said deputies chased a vehicle on Interstate 85 about 12:30 p.m. after a man tried to hit a deputy with his vehicle. The chase ended in Spartanburg County where Spartanburg County deputies were able to stop the vehicle near the 67 mile marker, Bolt said. He said two people were in custody.
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A man was arrested Saturday night for fleeing from several deputies while reaching speeds of 100 mph through the Florida Keys.
Paulo J. Bernabeu, 43, from Miami Beach, faces several charges including fleeing and eluding, driving without a motorcycle license and tampering/destroying evidence.
Monroe County Sheriff’s officials say the incident began at about 11 p.m. on Boca Chica Key when a southbound motorcyclist fled from Lower Keys Deputy Ryan Chlebanoswki reaching speeds of 83 mph in a 55 mph zone.
Man who attacked motorcyclist with ice pick charged with hate crime: Authorities
An Illinois man who allegedly attacked a motorcyclist with an ice pick and told him to "go back to his country" has been charged with a hate crime.
Police said as many as eight deputies took part in the pursuit, engaging the motorcyclist and then slowing down due to safety concerns.
Authorities said Bernabeu was engaged by the deputies as it went across the Seven Mile Bridge and entered Marathon.
By this time, investigators say they had a tag number and other identifying information on Bernabeu, who was riding a 2007 Honda sport motorcycle.
Bernabeu was later apprehended as he exited from a residence.
Police said they were able to find the clothes Bernabeu had been wearing during the pursuit under a kayak.
Later, while in custody, Bernabeu told police he fled because he did not have a motorcycle license.
Bernabeu was transported to jail.
Deputies searching for missing 14-year-old Greenville County girl.
Deputies with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team are looking for a missing 14 year-old girl who was discovered missing Monday morning. Taylor Caton was last seen Sunday night at about 10 p.m., according to Lt. Ryan Flood. Deputies are looking for the girl near her home on Ridge Way in Simpsonville, Flood said. Caton was wearing a T-shirt and yellow-flowered shorts, according to Flood. Caton suffers from medical issues, but Flood did not release specific information about her medical condition. Deputies are asking anyone with information that can lead to her safe return to call 911 immediately.
