Nevada man, 72, guilty of murder; stabbed victim 250 times

Nevada man, 72, guilty of murder; stabbed victim 250 times A Washoe County jury has convicted a 72-year-old man of first-degree murder in the February killing of an elderly man he stabbed at least 250 times. Ralph Goad faces up to life in prison without the possibility of parole at his sentencing set for Oct. 2. The Washoe District Court jury found him guilty following a weeklong trial in the death of 76-year-old Theodore Gibson in his Reno apartment. Detectives say there were signs of a struggle in the room where Gibson's body was found along with his empty wallet, a blood-stained knife and blood-stained pair of scissors.

Citing insufficient evidence, two counts of murder have been dropped against two parents whose twins went missing last year, the San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office said Wednesday.

Twins Sentina and Ren Weddles, along with their family, were reported missing Jan. 4, 2018. The toddlers’ family and siblings were found five days later in a white SUV on Trinity Parkway in Stockton, but the twins remain missing. They have yet to be found, and the parents have been uncooperative with investigators about the twins' whereabouts.

Parents Aaron Weddles, 42, and Princess Canez-Walker, 34, entered guilty pleas Wednesday to eight counts of child endangerment, officials said. They were sentenced to 15 years and four months in state prison.

Missing WikiLeaks associate had kayak accident in Norway: police

Missing WikiLeaks associate had kayak accident in Norway: police A Dutch WikiLeaks associate who went missing under mysterious circumstances a year ago probably had a kayaking accident, Norwegian police said Friday, adding that his body had not yet been found.

"The child endangerment charges relate to the couple’s overall neglect, abandonment, and failure to protect and provide for their eight (8) children, whose ages ranged from one month to 12 years of age," the DA's office said in a news release.

The murder counts, however, were dropped because there was insufficient evidence to prove the twins died, that they died by homicide, and that Weddles and Canez-Walker were the ones who killed their children.

Authorities continue to ask the public's help finding Sentina and Ren.

Prosecutors delay Maurice Hill hearing to file more attempted murder, assault charges.
The Philadelphia man accused of shooting six cops last month was expected to be in court Thursday for his preliminary hearing, but prosecutors need more time. The city's district attorney's office plans to charge him with more counts of attempted murder and assault on law enforcement. Maurice Hill has already been charged with dozens of such counts, but the homicide supervisor for the D.A.'s office, Anthony Voci, says Hill will face more, as they continue to investigate. "We've completed about 175 interviews of police personnel. We still have about approximately 75 to go. There's video that still has to be reviewed.
