Firefighter charged in southwest Baltimore shooting Police have arrested a man on attempted murder charges in connection with a shooting Thursday evening in southwest Baltimore. Craig White, 58, of Baltimore, was charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder. City police said investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a physical altercation between White and the victim, who police identified as a 23-year-old man. Sources told the I-Team that White is a Baltimore City firefighter who has been on the job for more than 20 years. He's assigned to Engine 46 on Reisterstown Road. Resident Carlisha Vital said she was inside cooking when the shooting occurred around 6 p.m.

As many as five people were shot over the weekend in Baltimore, one fatally, city police said.

City police said officers were called around 9:43 p.m. Saturday to the 1000 block of North Gilmore Street in west Baltimore, where a 39-year-old man was shot in the head. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.

City police said officers were again called around 11:25 p.m. Saturday to the 800 block of North Milton Street in east Baltimore, where they found a 28-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his body. He was taken to a hospital in serious condition. Detectives believe he was shot in the 2900 block of Jefferson Street.

City police said officers were called around 1:22 a.m. Sunday to the 1700 block of Barclay Street in the Station North area, where a 27-year-old man was found shot in the leg. He was taken to a hospital.

City police said officers were called around 8:11 a.m. Sunday to the 1500 block of Filbert Street in Curtis Bay, where a 21-year-old man was found with gunshot wounds to the back. He was taken to a hospital.

A short time later, police learned of a walk-in shooting victim at a hospital. Officers found a 23-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds to the arm, leg and groin. A preliminary investigation indicates both the 21-year-old and the 23-year-old victims were standing in the 4400 block of Pennington Avenue when they were shot.

Baltimore City police are investigating two separate shootings Wednesday night, one that left a man dead. Around 9:30 p.m., police were called to the 5600 block of Northwood Drive at East Belvedere Avenue, where a 35-year-old man was found suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest, according to officials. The victim was transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 10 p.m. Due to the seriousness of this incident, homicide detectives were called to investigate this incident. On Wednesday at 7 p.m., officers responded to the 500 block of Druid Hill Avenue for a shooting.
