Off-duty NYPD officer killed in Bronx motorcycle crash A high-ranking, off-duty NYPD officer was killed Monday in a Bronx motorcycle accident. The fatal crash happened just before 8 a.m. on East Tremont Avenue, when the officer's motorcycle collided with a truck. NBC reports that the driver of that truck remained on the scene, but no arrests were made. The officer was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The officer’s identity was not released, as of Monday afternoon. Images and video footage from the scene showed a considerable response from emergency teams, including several uniformed officers, detectives, and police tape.

Police say they are now searching for 35-year-old Richard Milwood, who is an employee at the deli located at 1724 Bussing Avenue in the Wakefield section of the Bronx.

According to police, Milwood granted them access into the basement, where they found a 49-year-old male who claimed he had been held against his will for the past three days.

The victim claimed that at approximately 7:30 p.m. on September 7, he was approached near East 234 Street and White Plains Road by four individuals who forcibly grabbed him, placed him into a parked vehicle then drove him to the deli's basement where he was bound and beaten in the head and torso officials say.

When police attempted to speak to Milwood, he had fled in an unknown direction.

Police do not have photographs of the other suspects but they say they have arrested 49-year-old Orinthia Gifford for her role in the kidnapping.

Gifford faces multiple charges including assault, kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment, criminal possession of a weapon, menacing and harassment.

Police have released a picture of Milwood who they describe as approximately 5'10" tall, 200 lbs. and was last seen wearing all dark clothing.

Authorities say that the victim refused medical attention from the EMS that responded to the scene where the victim was discovered.
