Authorities say a man led Kansas City Police Department officers on a high-speed pursuit after he pulled a gun on an off-duty officer.

Police said the off-duty officer was in uniform, and driving his personal vehicle in the northbound lanes of US-169 around 9 a.m. Near I-29. The officer said a motorcyclist pulled in front of him, waved a gun and pointed it in his direction.

The officer radioed in the motorcyclist's information, and several units spotted the motorcycle as the driver tried to flee the scene.

Police said the pursuit of the motorcycle started at North Oak Trafficway and Highway 152.

At times, the officers were unable to keep up with the motorcyclist due to driver's high speeds. Officers kept the motorcycle in view and caught up to the driver near Parvin Road.

The man eventually crashed in the area of Chouteau Trafficway and Parvin Road. Police took the man into custody and police said he’s being charged with aggravated assault.

Police said officers recovered a stolen firearm, and the motorcycle was also reported as stolen.

The suspect, identified only as a 27-year-old man, was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries related to the incident.

Charges are pending.
