Both the man and woman were pronounced dead on scene. The driver, who was fleeing an earlier minor wreck at the time, ran after hitting them, according to Houston Police Department Lt. Larry Crowson. The collision happened around midnight Tuesday as the two slept underneath the Beltway 8 overpass at Bellfort Avenue. As the driver rounded the curve to turn onto Bellfort from the Beltway 8 feeder, the car hopped the concrete embankment and landed on top of the man and woman.

Laquinta Renee Johnson, 32, was arrested Wednesday in the death of 39-year-old Kevin Roman. He had been shot several times when his body was found on Sept. 10, 2016, at his home in the 3400 block of Sparrow Street.

Roman was the flag football coach of KIPP Academy Middle School who never missed a day of church on Sunday, according to a Chron.com story.
