Just one week before authorities say Jermaine Agee fatally stabbed his ex-girlfriend and her teenage son, and critically injured her daughter at their Antioch home, Metro School officials called police to report they suspected he had hurt the woman.

New information obtained in court documents also shows that the double murder suspect thought Mayra Garcia, 38, was cheating on him and that she was too scared to call police after being attacked by him the night prior.

Agee, 38, is facing murder charges in connection with the early Monday morning stabbings of Garcia and her 13-year-old son Jayden Taylor in the 5700 block of Sonoma Trace. Garcia's 16-year-old daughter, Alexis Taylor, was in critical condition on Monday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center recovering from stab wounds. Agee, who police say forced his way into the home, grabbed a butcher knife from the kitchen counter and went room to room stabbing the victims, was captured several hours after the killings hiding behind a trash can in front of two Hickory Hollow businesses.

During the search for Agee, homeless persons in the area where he was apprehended told officers that they were aware of him and that he had stayed at a nearby homeless camp, police said.

He was booked into the Davidson County jail Monday afternoon after police said he refused to cooperate with detectives.

On Tuesday he remained jailed without bond on two counts of murder and one of attempted murder. He's due in court Wednesday for a hearing on his charges.

According to a police affidavit, on Oct. 1, officers were called by school staff members at Henry Maxwell Elementary School on Blue Hole Road where Garcia and Agee were dropping the victim's youngest daughter off.

At the time, police reported, the boyfriend and girlfriend did not have any children together and were living in Garcia's home.

When police spoke to Garcia, she told them that the night before, about 11 p.m., the couple got into an argument at her home because he thought she was cheating on him.

As the argument progressed, Garcia said Agee got more aggressive and hit her in the face multiple times and hit her hand — injuries which officers said they observed.

"The victim said that when she got away from the defendant, she was too scared to call police because she thought he would assault her again," the affidavit states.

Police issued a warrant for Agee's arrest, but he was not apprehended until after he allegedly killed Garcia and her son, and attacked her eldest daughter on Monday morning.
