UK court rules Google must face lawsuit over Safari privacy

UK court rules Google must face lawsuit over Safari privacy A UK class action lawsuit accusing Google of violating Safari users' privacy is getting a second wind after its initial rejection. The Court of Appeal has ruled that consumer rights advocate Richard Lloyd can go ahead with the case, which alleges that Google bypassed iPhone users' privacy settings to track web habits between August 2011 and February 2012. The suit would "quite properly" take Google to task for "deliberate misuse of personal data without consent" if the claims hold up, High Court chancellor Sir Geoffrey Vos said.Google told the Financial Times that it intended to appeal the reversal to the country's Supreme Court.

The lawsuit alleges 25-year-old John Emidy and others included in the class action were exposed to significant toxic substances, nicotine addiction and economic harm.

Among the claims in the suit, JUUL is alleged to have manipulated its nicotine formula to make it more potent and more addictive than cigarettes and used youth-focused marketing campaigns, flavors and paid influencers to hook underage e-cigarette users.

The plaintiff is asking for a jury trial and a judgment including compensatory and punitive damages to be determined by the court.

Juul stops selling its fruit-flavored vape products .
Today, Juul announced that it's suspending the sale of its fruit-flavored vape products in the US. It will no longer sell its mango, creme, fruit and cucumber varieties. The decision comes as the Trump administration is preparing to ban flavored e-cigs in an attempt to curb teen vaping and as the CDC continues to search for the cause of a vaping-related lung illness. Juul stopped selling those flavors in retail stores last year. Since then, they've only been available online. The company will continue to sell its mint and menthol nicotine pods even though those could also be subject to the Trump administration ban.
