“You see this in the news and you think, ‘this isn’t going to happen in my area, I live in a quiet little town in New Hampshire,’ but then it happened right next to my home,” said Robert Young, who lives on the street adjacent to the church. “It’s concerning that this is happening more and more, it’s becoming a monthly or bi-weekly occurrence.”

Choate was taken to Tufts Medical Center in Boston and as of Saturday evening was listed in serious condition, though Najem said Sunday that he is “doing much better.” McMullen was treated at a local hospital and was said to be in good condition.

Choate is the second clergyman affiliated with the church to be shot this month, after minister Luis Garcia was shot to death on Oct. 1 in Londonderry.

Authorities are investigating whether the two shootings are connected, as Garcia’s slaying was allegedly carried out by 24-year-old Brandon Castiglione — the son of Saturday’s husband-to-be, Mark Castiglione — and Holloway is the stepson of Garcia, according to Senior Assistant Attorney General Ben Agati.

In addition, a celebration of life event honoring Garcia was scheduled to begin at the church after the wedding ceremony concluded.

“Whether there is in fact a clear connection between these two events, that is something we are trying to put together,” Agati said, later adding, “Family relationships and dynamics are something we’re still looking into right now.”

Castiglione was also struck in the head with an unidentified object during the shooting Saturday, but was treated and released from a local hospital.

Holloway is expected to be arraigned Tuesday at Hillsborough County Superior Court in Nashua.
