Bronx fire: 10 injured, including 9 firefighters, in New York City apartment fire
A fire tore through an apartment building in the Bronx on Friday night, injuring 10 people -- including nine responding firefighters -- before it was brought under control hours later, officials said. The fire was first reported around 8:15 p.m., and started on the sixth floor of the building in the Mount Eden neighborhood of the New York City borough, drawing scores of firefighters to the scene, the New York City Fire Department said.None of the 10 who were hurt had life-threatening injuries, said Lillian Bonsignore, chief of emergency medical services for FDNY.

Crews were called to the Comfort Suits at the 500 block of Live Oak Street for smoke showing in the hotel just after 6:30 a.m.

While on scene, a firefighter was struck by a vehicle, said Woody Woodward, a spokesman for SAFD.
The firefighter was transported to the hospital, but the extent of their injuries is unknown at this time, Woodward said.
According to the scanner, the vehicle left the area.

Around 9:45 p.m., Modesto police received calls about a man with a gun entering the Tap Room Pub and Grub located on Sylvan Avenue and Claus Road. Police said the suspect fired what turned out to be a pellet gun towards the bar ceiling.Retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Derek Hudson and off-duty Modesto firefighter John Walker tackled and detained the suspect, now identified as 18-year-old Justyn Wesson, until police arrived.
