GARFIELD HEIGHTS , Ohio -- A jury on Friday recommended the death penalty for the man who was convicted of killing two teenagers in Garfield When the victim told her children to run outside, authorities said Nicholson fired 13 shots at them. Both suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the back .

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - An 18-year-old male was shot and killed leaving an apartment building on the city’s East Side.

According to Cleveland police, Kenneth Triplett of Garfield Heights, was shot in the back at 7711 Garden Valley.

Officers were called to the apartment complex around 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Witnesses told police Triplett had entered the building with another man and a short time later shots were fired.

Triplett fled the building and collapsed outside.

There are no arrests.

Friends say Triplett, who was called Trip, loved to rap, make his friends laugh and tell them right from wrong.

A 14-year-old Queens boy was shot dead Saturday on the basketball court of a NYCHA project in South Jamaica, police said. Cops responded around 8 p.m. to the court behind 116-80 Guy R. Brewer Blvd. in the Baisley Park Houses and found the teen with a gunshot wound to his neck. Neighbors and the boyfriend of the teen’s mother identified him as Amir Griffin. A woman who lives in the project and declined to give her name heard gunfire. “It’s always something. I just hoped it was firecrackers,” she said.“I looked out the window, and I saw that kid lying on the ground," she said. “I saw the cops pumping his chest from my window.
