PATERSON — A 13-year-old boy was arrested on Thursday in connection.
The suspect, whose name has not been released because of his age, was charged with acts of delinquency relating to the deathon a late Sunday afternoon in the city’s notorious 4th Ward.
Other boys were with the accused killer and the victim just prior to the shooting, law enforcement sources said. It’s not clear whether they also will be arrested and charged with the crime. The charges of delinquency, if committed by an adult, according to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Troy Oswald, would constitute the crimes of aggravated manslaughter in the first degree, and unlawful possession of a weapon in the second degree.

One man has been arrested and charged with murder after video footage showed him shooting and killing another man in broad daylight, police said. Jataevis Frank Williams, 19, was arrested Wednesday in connection with the killing of 22-year-old Davonnce Gant in August. San Antonio police responded to the 4900 block of Woodstone Drive around 8 p.m. on Aug. 19 for a shooting in progress, and when they arrived they found Gant in the parking lot of an apartment complex, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, court affidavits said.FIND OUT FIRST:Get San Antonio breaking news directly to your inboxGant was transported to University Hospital where he died less than an hour later.
According to a release issued by Valdes and Oswald, said the boys were playing together when the gun accidentally discharged, striking Credle in the back of his head.
Some of the boys went to the same school that the victim attended, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School, the sources said.
Officials said the charges against the 13-year-old will be handled in juvenile court. State law only allows for charges against a juvenile to be transferred to adult court in cases in which the defendants are 14 or older, officials said.
Authorities have not disclosed how long the accused killers and the victim knew each other. Nor have authorities said whether they found the gun used in the killing.

Credle’s death happened near Harrison Street, less than two days after a 43-year-old woman was gunned down on the same street by killers who allegedly followed her while she was making a Door Dash food delivery on a dead-end block.
Those two killings prompted the Paterson City Council to hold an emergency meeting about street violence, triggered a massive police crackdown in the city the following weekend and prompted clergy leaders to hold a series of anti-violence vigils.
Credle’s aunt, Tishell Jackson, said he had been an eighth-grader at Paterson’s Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School. The aunt said K’Zure was very close to his mother and liked playing basketball and video games.
Paterson police bust after-hours club on Main Street
Narcotics detectives raided what officials are calling an illegal, after-hours club in the 6th Ward early Sunday morning, shutting down the business.During the raid the 2:25 a.m. raid at 862 Main Street, police seized 770 grams of marijuana and arrested two 29-year-old women on drug charges, Speziale said.

Authorities said the shooting, in the 1st Ward, stemmed from a dispute, but they have not released further details. The killing is Paterson's 16th homicide of the year, which represents a 33 percent increase over the city's death toll for 2018.
