Authorities have arrested a 23-year-old man on a charge of capital murder in connection to a shooting that left two dead and 12 others injured Saturday night at a homecoming party in Greenville. At a news conference Monday announcing the arrest, Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meeks said they believe Gonzales acted alone and went to the party to target a specific individual.

Lewis’ lawyer, Rauch Wise, said the power and influence of being sheriff went to Lewis’ head.
“Too big for his britches. I think that’s a fair representation of what happened,” Wise said.
