  Street-racing truck driver arrested after leading police on high-speed pursuit, Bellaire police say A man was arrested after authorities said he led police on a high-speed chase around the 610 Loop late Sunday night. Police said they tried to stop a truck that was street racing on the West Loop around 11:55 p.m. According to authorities, the truck had expired tags. The driver of the truck didn't stop, and instead, led police on a chase that lasted about 15 minutes and ended in a residential area off 288. During the chase, police said, the truck reached speeds of about 100 mph.The driver was arrested and charged with felony evading. A passenger was released at the scene without charges.Bellaire police said they've been aggressively combatting street racing on the 610 Loop.

The identity of the two suspects is currently being withheld for investigative reasons, according to the sheriff. She had been unable to contact him for several hours after he was supposed to meet someone in the 5800 block of Airline Drive to sell his vehicle, according to the sheriff's report.

METAIRIE , La. (WVUE) - Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joseph Lopinto said the 22-year-old suspect in several homicide investigations was killing people randomly and could be connected to other cases in New Orleans and other jurisdictions.

According to Sheriff Joseph LoPinto, the case initially began as missing persons investigation but was changed to a homicide with the discovery of the victim’s body Monday afternoon.

Two people were arrested, 22-year-old Herman Raney, of Baton Rouge, and 20-year-old La'Shon Brown, of Baton Rouge.

JPSO officials said Raney and Brown admitted to arranging to purchase the victim's vehicle and meeting with him in the 5800 block of Airline Drive.

The three took the car on a test drive, according to officials, during which the victim was shot in the head.

Raney and Brown each blamed the other for the fatal shot, JPSO said, and also admitted to dumping the victim's body in the 600 block of Linden Street where it was eventually located.

According to the sheriff, during the apprehension of one suspect Monday in Baton Rouge, a JPSO detective fired at the suspect multiple times, but the suspect was not struck by any of the rounds.

LoPinto said the suspect was taken into custody shortly after, and a second suspect was later detained.

On Sunday the victim’s wife called JPSO to report the victim missing.

Around 11:30 a.m, a man who was not the victim approached the car.

As detectives attempted to contact him, he ran away into a wooded area, according to the sheriff's report.

The Baton Rouge Police Department is investigating the use of force aspect of the incident and continuing to assist JPSO in obtaining the search warrants needed in that jurisdiction to progress the investigation.

The victim’s vehicle and a suspect vehicle were seized and will be returned to Jefferson Parish for processing, according to LoPinto.

At around 12:50 p.m., JPSO headquarters received a call that a resident had found what appeared to be deceased person in a field near the intersection of Lark and Linden streets in Metairie.

Responding deputies tentatively identified the remains as those of the missing person, according to LoPinto.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending the notification of the next of kin.

An Oklahoma police chief was killed during a physical altercation Sunday in Florida, and his co-worker was arrested in connection with his death, according to authorities. According to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office in Florida, deputies responded to the incident at about 9 p.m. at a hotel on Pensacola Beach.
