Officials with the Daytona Beach Police Department said Jessica Zaccaro is charged with child neglect after she left a baby in her car for at least 20 minutes outside a medical building.

A witness called 911 and said the baby was crying and the vehicle did not have the engine running or the windows down.

Police said the witness tried to open the doors to the car but was unsuccessful. First responders had to break into the car to get the baby out.

Police said the baby’s vitals were OK, but she had a dirty diaper, was dehydrated and sweaty.

Zaccaro showed up soon after paramedics arrived and told investigators she did not know the child was in the vehicle at the time, police said.
