John Conner III, 30, waived his right to trial this week and pleaded guilty to felony charges of criminal exposure to HIV, statutory rape by an authority figure, and solicitation of a minor.

Weirich's office said the dance instructor met a teenage boy on a social media website in 2015. Conner was 26 at the time, the teen was 16. The two had unprotected sex several times in Conner's car.

Conner had tested positive for HIV in 2012, and knew he was infected before having unprotected sex with the teen, Weirich's office said.

After meeting the defendant, the teen then joined his dance team, the Infamous Dancerettes. Conner and the dance team appeared on "Bring It", a Lifetime reality television show that focused on competitive dance in Memphis.

According to Weirich's office, the two continued to have a relationship that involved texting and sending nude photos.

In 2016, the teen confided to his parents he had been having sex with his dance teacher, and wanted to be tested for HIV exposure after hearing a rumor that Conner could have the virus.

The teen then tested positive for HIV.

Conner has similar cases pending with two other sexual partners, ages 17 and 24.

Conner's sentencing date for the felony charges will be on Dec. 20. He will be sentenced by Shelby County criminal court judge Chris Craft.

The case is being handled by the district attorney's Special Victims Unit prosecutors.
