Phoenix police are investigating the shooting death of a man early Friday morning at a motel.

Officers responded about 2:30 a.m. to a motel near 19th Avenue and Van Buren Street for a report of gunshots, according to a Phoenix police news release.

A man with gunshot wounds was found in a motel room. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said in the release.

Police did not release the man's name. Details of how the shooting occurred were not immediately available.
