The shooting happened at Saucier’s home at 4600 100th Avenue SE in Gaines Township.

A family member said Saucier’s family, including his wife, Megan, was devastated by the loss. He said the family did not want to comment pending resolution of the police investigation.

He said that an obituary, in which Saucier was portrayed as “larger than life,” and loved by many, was an accurate portrayal.

“Words cannot begin to describe the impact Steven has made in his time with us,” his obituary said.

“Those who knew Steven will forever remember him for being larger than life and how he brought an easiness to achieve the most impossible of dreams. People were drawn to Steve’s joyful personality, a love for life and, one of a kind, friendly smile and southern charm that pulled everyone in.”

47-year-old woman shot, killed in front of playground, Dallas police say

47-year-old woman shot, killed in front of playground, Dallas police say This story has been updated to include a correction from the Dallas Police Department. Officials with the department initially said the victim was 48 years old, but later changed her age to 47. A 47-year-old woman was shot and killed in front of an apartment complex playground in the Pleasant Grove area Monday evening, officials with the Dallas Police Department said. Police responded to a shooting call at 1244 N. Masters Drive, where a group of teens had reportedly been involved in an altercation with handguns, according to officials. When officers arrived, they found Lisa Henry, 47, lying on the ground.

A celebration of his life will be Saturday, Nov. 30, at MKD Funeral Home 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE in Kentwood, the obituary said. A memorial service will be Dec. 7 at Silver Run Baptist Church in Poplarville, Mississippi.

Saucier, who earned a degree in construction management at the University of Southern Mississippi in 2010, worked around the country before he and his wife settled in West Michigan.

“Steven was a loving husband, son, brother, and friend. Anyone who was blessed to know Steven and his wife, would attest that they were the epitome of soulmates and the perfect team,” his obituary said.

“Steven was a legendary underdog who, through passion and drive, came out on top and fulfilled his dreams. If only we could face each day like he did, seizing it for the opportunities it brought him and refusing to settle for anything short of what he felt he and his family deserved. Steven is irreplaceable and will be missed by everyone who knew him.”

Police have released little information about the shooting, other than that Saucier allegedly confronted police with a gun before was shot.

Wyoming police are investigating the shooting as an outside agency.

The deputy who shot Saucier was placed on administrative leave, which is standard in police-involved shootings. Once the investigation is complete, Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker will review findings.
