  2 arrested after suspected pure Fentanyl bust in Duluth Charges are being drawn up against two men arrested during after a narcotics raid in Duluth Thursday night that netted a suspected large and potentially deadly amount of pure fentanyl. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) says the suspects, a 35-year-old Chicago man and a 29-year-old man from Duluth, were caught up in an undercover sweep involving three separate search warrants. During the execution of one off those warrants, agents seized 80 grams of suspected pure fentanyl powder. It is Minnesota's largest single confiscation of the deadly compound in 2019.

According to a Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) press release published online Thursday, Ontario resident Guo Bing Zhao, 52, was driving a semitrailer and arrived at the Blue Water Bridge Commercial Operations in Point Edward, Ontario, on Nov. 18.

Zhao was referred for a secondary inspection and during the examination border services officers discovered an inconsistency in the weight of some of the boxes in the shipment, according to the release.

Authorities reported the boxes were examined and found to contain 50 packages of suspected cocaine weighing approximately 50 kilograms total.

Authorities seized the suspected cocaine and arrested Zhao. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) London Detachment Border Integrity Team took custody of the suspect and the evidence, according to the release.

Police charged Zhao with the importation of a controlled substance and possession for the purpose of trafficking, both contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Zhao was remanded in custody and has a hearing scheduled for Dec. 12 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia, Ontario, according to the release.

Canadian officials announced Monday more than 128 pounds of suspected cocaine was seized on the Blue Water Bridge May 24. A traveler arrived at the bridge in Point Edward, Ontario and was referred for a secondary examination, according to the Canada Border Services Agency.

“We are proud of our officers at the front line who work tirelessly to protect Canadians and keep drugs out of our communities,” Tom Rankin, CBSA St. Clair District Operations district director, said in the press release. “This seizure is another example of the ongoing cooperation that exists between the CBSA and the RCMP.”

PLANO (1080 KRLD0 - Plano police have arrested a second person who will be charged in the murder of a 16 year old boy last Saturday. Marquell Ellis Jr. was shot and killed at a party while his family says he was playing a video game. Police arrested Kemond Smith, 17, Monday, but they had said a second person was involved. They say Christian Treyshun Hill, 18, was also shooting. According to an arrest warrant affidavit, four people showed up uninvited to the party and were thrown out. Police say Smith and Hill returned and started shooting.The affidavit says Hill talked with detectives the day after the shooting, but he said he only heard the gunshots as he drove away.
