Sheriff John Williams asked why the music was so loud, then he was shot in the head, a witness said.About 8:15 p.m. Saturday, Williams was shot at the QV convenience store near the Lowndes County Courthouse on the downtown square in Hayneville. Law enforcement apprehended the suspect William Chase Johnson, 18, after a nearly four-hour search when he walked up to the shooting scene about 12:05 a.m. Sunday with a firearm in his hand and was taken into custody after the manhunt.
Ada police officers and Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation agents are investigating an officer-involved shooting Tuesday.
According to the OSBI, Ada police officers were serving felony warrants at a home in the 800 block of West 12th Street, when someone outside the home opened fire on the officers.
One officer was hit by the gunfire, OSBI officials said.
The officers then returned fire, hitting the suspect, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The officer who was shot was taken to a local hospital, where he was treated and released.
No names have been released.
