  DUI driver in UCF student’s death was not drunk, investigators say A man accused of vehicular homicide and DUI manslaughter in the death of a 21-year-old University of Central Florida senior was allegedly high on marijuana, not alcohol, at the time of the crash, court records show. Yousuf Hasan, 25, is accused of crashing his car into 21-year-old London Harrell as she walked near UCF in June. Sign up for our Newsletters Investigators have said Yousuf Hasan was not drunk when the crash happened. Newly released video shows Hasan undergoing a breathalyzer test after the crash. The video was recorded about five hours after the crash. Troopers have said that when Hasan was found he was slurring his words and couldn't stand up straight.

A Houston police officer was rushed to the hospital after a suspected drunk driver crashed into his police cruiser on Saturday morning.  The incident happened at around 1 a.m. Saturday morning on Tidwell Road near John Ralston.

The HPD officer was on a special assignment and had pulled over to the side of the road on Tidwell.  A suspected drunk driver then rear-ended his patrol car before 1 a.m.

Authorities say the female driver was driving at around 40 miles per hour when she slammed into the officer's patrol car. The officer is expected to recover from his injuries, but officials say he may have suffered a concussion. The suspected drunk driver was arrested on driving while intoxicated charges.

“We're confident that he’s going to come out of this ok which is a miracle,” said Harris County Assistant District Attorney Sean Teare. "This one should be yet another call to everybody. Stop this. Just stop getting out here drunk and driving. When you do it, things like this happen.  You strike our heroes out here protecting us. You strike the rest of the civilians, and lives get lost every single night because of this."

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez tweeted about the officer's crash, sending a strong message about drunk drivers who put Houston police officers at risk.

McKinney police officer hit while blocking traffic on I-75 .
A McKinney police officer has been released from the hospital after he was hit while blocking traffic early Friday on Interstate 75. The motorcycle officer, who has not been publicly identified, was struck before 8 a.m. on I-75 near Eldorado Parkway. "We are thankful our officer was able to walk away from this," McKinney police tweeted. Officials said the officer was released from the hospital around 9 a.m. Friday. All lanes of traffic were reopened by 9:30 a.m.
