ROSEVILLE (WWJ) - A man suspected of stealing a Salvation Army Red Kettle in Roseville has been arrested.
Acting on a tip, police arrested 53-year-old Jeffrey Claydon on Detroit's east side Wednesday on unrelated drug charges.
"Grinch who stole Christmas in custody," police headlined a statement announcing the arrest.
Investigators say the Eastpointe manand stole the red kettle outside a Walmart store on Gratiot near 14 Mile last Friday when the bell ringer stepped away.
Claydon is expected to be turned over to Roseville police once his criminal case in Detroit is complete.
Off-duty park ranger stopped Auburn library stabbing suspect from hurting others
Jared Elster was picking up a family member at the Auburn library on Tuesday when he jumped into action to stop a stabbing suspect from harming more people, officials said. Elster, an off-duty Sacramento County Regional Parks ranger, heard someone yell "Call 911!" while he was waiting to pick up his relative, according to Liz Bellas, regional parks director.
