Suspect in Deputy Sandeep Dhaliwal's killing officially indicted on capital murder charge
The man accused in the fatal shooting of Harris County Deputy Sandeep Dhaliwal has been officially indicted on a capital murder charge. A Harris County grand jury returned an indictment against Robert Solis, 47, on Wednesday. Deputy Dhaliwal was conducting a traffic stop in the 14800 block of Willancy Court near West Road in northwest Harris County on Sept. 27 when he was killed.There were two people in the car that Deputy Dhaliwal pulled over. As the deputy was walking back to his patrol unit from that car, Gonzalez says a man, identified as Solis, got out and shot him.

Update: A heroic father and son were shot during a home invasion in Salida this evening, allowing family members to escape and call law enforcement. At approximately 8:30 PM Stanislaus County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a call of a home invasion in the 500 block of Sun Valley Ct in Salida.
According to HCSO public information officer Jason Spencer, deputies received a call from a woman who said she heard noises coming from downstairs and believed someone was trying to break into her home.
Spencer said around the same time, she called her father, who lives nearby. The father then drove to her home, according to Spencer.
"There was some sort of an encounter at which time one of the deputies discharged his firearm, striking the male in the leg," said Spencer.
Spencer said when deputies arrived, the father's pickup truck was parked in the yard on the grass.
"They encountered the man at the front door," he told ABC13. "It was a somewhat chaotic situation. There were multiple people inside the home."

The sheriff's office says the deputy was not injured. The man was taken to the hospital for treatment.
"Officers don't know, when they're arriving, who's a good guy and who's a bad guy," said Spencer. "They don't know when they walk up to a scene who's who. Anything you can do, as a citizen, to identify yourself and to comply with deputies is a good thing."
The incident will be investigated by the Harris County Sheriff's Office homicide unit, its internal affairs division and the district attorney's office.
