The student, who is not being named, was charged with possessing deadly weapons in a school safety zone after a school resource officer found him with two folding knives, said Fairfield Police Officer Doug Day. 

The charge is a fifth-degree felony.

Fairfield Schools officials confirmed a student brought two knives to Fairfield High School on Wednesday. School officials were tipped off by a student who told school staff a classmate possessed the weapons.

“The administration and school resource officer immediately located the student (suspect) and confiscated two knives. The school district administered the appropriate disciplinary consequences,” according to a Wednesday statement by the schools.
