A 16-year-old rock climber survived a 500-foot fall on Oregon's Mount Hood Monday morning, officials say. © KATU Emergency responders use a rescue sled to evacuate a 16-year-old mountain climber off Oregon's Mount Hood after he fell an estimated 500 feet into a valley known as Devil’s Kitchen, Dec. 30, 2019. The climber, who officials say is in stable condition, was rescued by members of the Clackamas County Sheriff's Search and Rescue team, assisted by volunteers from several area mountain rescue groups.

Two men who fell through some ice on Evergreen Lake were rescued by witnesses who jumped in to save the men .
Firefighters worked for two hours Thursday afternoon with saws and rescue equipment to save a man who fell through the ice in Westborough.
According to the Westborough Fire Department, a man fell through the ice in the middle of Cedar Swamp, near 57 Brigham St.
After the complicated rescue, the man was driven up a dirt road in an ATV to a waiting ambulance and then taken to a hospital for treatment. Fire Department officials said the man is expected to recover.

Oklahoma rescue pit bull turned narcotics K-9 officer makes drug bust .
An Oklahoma rescue pit bull who became a narcotics detection K-9 officer recently made another drug bust during a traffic stop. According to the K9 Wildflower Facebook page, Hughes County deputies requested Wildflower and his handler’s help at Highway 75 and County Road 139. Sign up for our Newsletters Wildflower made several positive alerts on the suspect vehicle, officials said. Deputies searched the vehicle and found what preliminary field testing showed to be crystal meth. Drug paraphernalia and an open bottle of alcohol were also recovered from the vehicle, officials said.Two people were taken into custody.
