  Phoenix police identify man fatally shot by officers during struggle over gun The shooting occurred Monday night near First Avenue and Jackson Street, according to Phoenix police.The two male officers involved in the shooting, who were not identified by police, were described as a 27-year-old employed by the department for 3½ years, and a 32-year-old employed by the department for 4 years, according to a Phoenix police news release.

A man was found fatally shot inside a car on Thursday morning near 26th Street and Shea Boulevard in Phoenix, according to police officials.

Neighbors called police about gunshots fired around 5 a.m. on Cheryl Drive and found nothing at first, according to Detective Luis Samudio, a Phoenix police spokesman.

Then a second call came in about 7:25 a.m. about a vehicle, a gray Dodge, that had damage from gunfire. Inside the car, police found the body.

The gunfire was reported about 7:30 p.m. at the corner of Olympic Boulevard and Alvarado Street, on the border with the Westlake neighborhood, said Los Angeles police Officer Mike Lopez. Responding officers found the man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Lopez said.Footage from the scene showed the man's body was on the sidewalk outside a Mobil station at the intersection. A discarded guitar was also within the area taped off for investigation.

Police did not reveal the man's name.

Police do not yet know if the person in the Dodge car lived in the neighborhood. The car has California license plates.

A neighbor said nothing like the shooting had happened in the area before.

"I always feel safe here, that's why we moved here," said Diane Meyer, who has lived there for more than 25 years.

Another neighbor, Janet Daspit, said she walks around the neighborhood every morning, and for the past few months, she has seen the car parked in the same spot with a person sleeping in it.

A suspect description was not immediately available.

A teenager has been arrested for the murder of a corner store cashier earlier this month in South Philadephia -- and charged in the execution-style murder of a 15-year-old back in October. Philadelphia police say 18-year-old Tyseem Murray fatally shot Xiaoding Li once in the chest as he worked in the corner store at Ninth and Porter streets on Jan. 7, just before 6 p.m. The motive appears to be an attempted robbery, though officials say it doesn't look like anything was taken.The 31-year-old victim was the son of the store's owner, and was well-known and liked in the neighborhood.
