  Cibolo PD urging residents to use 911 after seeing rise in social media reporting Cibolo police are reminding residents to dial 911 in an emergency as the department has seen an increase in people trying to use social media to report crimes. The reminder comes after the department was informed of an alleged attempted kidnapping almost two weeks after the incident. A resident brought a video to the department's attention about the incident on Dec. 22, when a child was almost taken, Cibolo police said. “We appreciate everyone's assistance in this case and are pleased to learn the female was not a victim of a crime. We are appreciative of the witness calling us and advising us of what she witnessed. We encourage the public to call and report suspicious behavior and we fully understand some incidents will turn out not be criminal. Had this been a kidnapping, that early information would have been critical in our investigation.”

On Thursday around 8 a.m. officers were called to 1320 Moreland. The caller said she saw an older model charcoal gray 4 door Infiniti sedan parked in the parking lot near a white work van. She told police that a woman was sitting on the passenger side of the car when two men exited the van, removed her from the Infiniti and forced her into the van through the side door. The witness said she was observing from a distance and it appeared that the woman was struggling with the men. After she was inside the van, both men drove in separate vehicles.

DeLand Police arrest man in kidnapping and rape of woman .
DELAND -- A 48-year-old man was arrested Tuesday in the kidnapping and rape of a woman in DeLand in November, police said. Rodrigo Reyes will be charged with rape and kidnapping, said Chris Graham, a spokesman for the DeLand Police Department. Reyes was being held without bail at the Volusia County Branch Jail. Reyes has several prior arrests, mostly involving charges of criminal traffic violations.The attack occurred Nov. 21. A woman told police that she had been walking in the area of Parsons and Beresford Avenues, in the city's Spring Hill section, when a man forced her into a black Ford Mustang.
