DETROIT (WWJ) - A 22-year-old man is under arrest for allegedly stealing a retired Detroit Police officer's car with his gun and badge inside.

Police say the 74-year-old victim had left his car running to go inside a gas station on Kercheval Avenue near Warren Avenue around 7:50 a.m. Wednesday when his vehicle was stolen.

The thief was caught on Green Light video getting into the 2013 Honda Accord and driving off.

After receiving a tip, officers located the suspect at a home in the 2900 block of Sheridan and executed a search warrant. At that time, Michael Toussaint was taken into custody and transported to the Detroit Detention Center.

Officers recovered the victim's vehicle, firearm and badge.

Toussaint was charged with receiving and concealing stolen property -- motor vehicle, receiving and concealing stolen property -- $1,000 to $20,000, firearms -- possession by felon, and Firearms -- receiving and concealing. Bond was set at $3,000.
