Officials said they had not confirmed a motive for the killing of Texas Deputy Darren H. Goforth, who was fueling his patrol car outside Houston, but tied it to protests over police shootings. Deputy Darren Goforth was killed Friday at a gas station near Houston.

The suspect shot Goforth, 47, while the deputy was filling up his patrol car at the gas station , Hickman said . Deputies have made an arrest in a fatal Lake Worth shooting that left one man dead.

The shooting happened at the Citgo gas station located at the 2100 block of 10th Avenue North in Lake Worth.

Witnesses told deputies that they saw the victim, who was identified as Abdessamad Ez Zahraoui, and the suspect, who was identified as Roberto Portillo-Quijano, get into a fight in the store.

Deputies said the two were eventually separated and the victim walked outside to calm down. Once he returned into the store, that's when officials said Portillo-Quijano pulled a gun from his waistband and shot the victim several times.

Officials were able to verify the story through surveillance video.

The victim and the suspect were co-workers at the gas station.

Deputies were able to arrest Portillo-Quijano, who is facing first degree murder charges.

1 shot, killed at front door in east Oak Cliff, Dallas police say .
One person was shot and killed at an east Oak Cliff apartment complex overnight Monday, according to Dallas police. The suspect shot the victim shortly before 1 a.m. as the victim was opening the door of an apartment at Volara Apartments, police at the scene told WFAA. A woman who had called to report the shooting told police her friend had been shot by an unknown person, officials said. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
