As of Saturday afternoon, the nation of 1.3 billion registered just over 180,000 confirmed cases, including 5,185 deaths . More than 80% of the active cases are found in five states

Majors, of Charlottesville, Va., was jogging down a set of steps in Morningside Park shortly before 7 p.m. on Dec. 11, 2019, when she was stabbed to death. A responding officer testified about finding Majors on the ground, bleeding and struggling to breathe.

The boy, who has been in juvenile detention since Majors’ death, previously admitted to being present for the killing and picking up the knife used to kill the victim shortly before she was stabbed, cops said.

But through his lawyers, the child has adamantly denied ever touching Majors or taking part in the stabbing in any way. Authorities say his own admissions and proximity to the crime make him responsible.

Rashaun Weaver, 14, was arrested and charged as an adult with robbery and murder on Feb. 15 after his DNA was discovered beneath Majors’ fingernails, authorities said. Luciano Lewis, 14, surrendered to police four days later and was hit with the same charges.

Legal Aid and the city Law Department, which is prosecuting the case, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
