  Man dies in police-involved shooting on Parkway in Bass River Township New Jersey State Police involved in deadly shooting on Garden State Parkway in rural Burlington Township Maurice S. Gordon, 28, of Poughkeepsie, was fatally shot around 6:30 a.m. Saturday during an encounter with New Jersey State Police, the state Attorney General's Office said.

Investigators in Essex County are asking for the public’s help in the shooting death Tuesday of a 28-year-old man in Newark.

Yasin Welch, of Newark, was shot near the intersection of Fairmount and Central Avenues, according to Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose.

Welch was taken to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:21 p.m., according to police.

No arrests had been made by Wednesday. Anyone with information is asked to call the prosecutor’s office at 1-877-TIPS-4EC.
