Florida police officer Brian Pace was charged with bribery, authorities announced Monday. The bribery charge followed an incident in which Pace told a victim of theft that her stolen items would be returned if she reciprocated with “ inappropriate photographs ,” according to authorities .

The photos show a young woman naked surrounded by men on a Florida beach - in one shot she appears to be trying to get away. Bay County Sheriff told Daily Mail Online on Friday that his main priority was to check on the safety of the young woman.

The officer, who has since resigned from his job, initially spoke with the victim in early May when she called the agency to report that her cell phone and other property had been stolen, Undersheriff Pat Ivey told reporters at a news conference.

Pace later contacted the woman again and allegedly made the shocking demand.

The victim reported the abuse to the sheriff’s office earlier this month, prompting an investigation that led to his arrest over the weekend. He was busted after meeting the victim to return her stolen items, Ivey said.

The suspect was charged with one count of second-degree bribery.

Pace is the third police officer and the seventh employee of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office to face criminal charges this year.
