disease? Bed rest? In the life of Katharina Wagner (42) there was no room for it so far. The great-granddaughter of the world-famous composer Richard Wagner (1813 - 1883) did her best to continue the family legacy. With around 130 groups of Wagner friends around the world and a wide variety of wishes and interests, no easy job. But the festival director has so far withstood all hostility and criticism. Until she suddenly got life-threateningly ill - she was even afraid of having lung cancer, as she said BUNTE. Here she describes what it is like to suddenly be thrown from everyday life.

BUNTE: Ms. Wagner, for critics and friends you are the proverbial "solid rock" in Bayreuth: angular, storm-tested and always there. How did you get sick?

Katharina Wagner: I also asked myself this question. Thromboses, i.e. blood clots, have formed and dissolved in me. These migrated to the lungs and there, initially unnoticed, caused several embolisms and clogged the lungs. In my case, a disease called pulmonary hypertension developed, which, among other things, led to an oxygen deficiency and massive heart problems.

How do you notice that?
