More than a dozen men accused of targeting children for sex crimes were arrested in the Las Vegas metro area this week as part of an undercover operation, authorities said Friday.
The 14 suspects engaged in inappropriate conversations with agents posing as juveniles on the internet and tried to set up sexual encounters with them, according to police.

“Parents are encouraged to routinely monitor their children’s activity on social media and other online applications to prevent them from becoming victims of a child sex predator,” police said.
Each suspect was charged with luring a minor with a computer to engage in a sex act. One of them, 49-year-old Eric Huey, is a retired substitute teacher for the Clark County School District, the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
The others were identified as Pedrito Castillo, 28; Trent Courtney, 25; George Espinoza, 34; Deonta Griffin, 36; Kerry Krukenberg, 40; Andrew Lee, 40; Jordan Martinez, 24; Joal Robles, 29; Jonathan Santos, 28; Roderick Schmitt, 47, Carey Sherwood, 50; Rafael Villarreal, 35; and Rene Zuniga, 42.
The multi-agency sting took place Tuesday and Wednesday and was led by Las Vegas metro police, North Las Vegas Police Department, Henderson Police Department, Nevada Attorney General’s Office, FBI and Homeland Security Investigations.
