Graber had been a Spanish teacher at Fairfield High School since 2012, according to the school's website. Miller and Goodale were students there. In a statement released to families and staff, superintendent Dr. Laurie Noll said the school will be closed on Friday and counseling will be available to the school's community. Prosecutors won’t be pursing most charges against Heiry Calvi, the pregnant ex-Doral teacher accused of having a romantic relationship with a 15-year-old male student.

According to the Associated Press, Graber, 66, was reported missing Nov. 2. Her remains were found at a park in Fairfield, where she was known to take daily walks, later that day. Court filings reported that Graber suffered "inflicted trauma to the head."

The two boys were given separate court hearings 90 minutes apart. AP reported they gave little reaction to the proceedings, only looking forward most of the time.

Goodale's lawyer argued that he doesn't have the means to pay the bond.

"A million dollar cash-only bond, judge, is so far unobtainable that it essentially amounts to pretrial detention without bond," said Nicole Jensen, the state public defender appointed to represent Goodale.

Mexico sends some minors to US to get coronavirus vaccine

Mexico sends some minors to US to get coronavirus vaccine SAN DIEGO (AP) — Scores of Mexican adolescents were bused to California on Thursday to get vaccinated against the coronavirus as efforts get underway across Mexico to get shots in the arms of teens. Mexico has resisted vaccinating minors ages 12 to 17, in part because the government focused on older adults believed to be more vulnerable. Mexico also has not had enough vaccine supply for most of its minors, who account for one-third of its population. The country this month is preparing to start vaccinating only teens ages 15-17.

Graber taught Spanish at Fairfield High School, where the suspects were students. Investigators had searched Chautauqua Park because Graber was known to walk there, according to criminal complaints obtained Friday by NBC News. They found her body "concealed under a tarp, wheelbarrow, and railroad ties," the complaints said. Police found bloodied clothes belonging to one of the teens , while the other teen admitted to investigators that he had provided materials used in the murder and helped to cover it up. Both teens are being held in lieu of million bail, according to court documents.

'When prosecutors seek excessive cash bail,' she tweeted, ' it results in increased rates of incarceration — particularly for low -income defendants. More than 75% of individuals in custody haven't been convicted of a crime and are confined in unsafe conditions simply because they cannot afford cash bail.

Jensen said the most Goodale could manage was probably $10,000 at most, as his father works in construction. Goodale has no means of fleeing, as he doesn't possess a passport and driver's license, she said.

Miller's attorney Christine Branstad argued similarly. She added that the prolonged detainment could have a harmful effect on the young men and hinder their development.

She asked the judge to instead look at GPS or video monitoring while Miller's under home supervision of the adults in his family.

Both Assistant Iowa Attorney General Scott Brown and Jefferson County Attorney Chauncey Moulding referred to the brutality of the crime in their arguments. Brown said it justified keeping the bond at $1 million or increasing it to $2 million for Goodale. Moulding also asked to increase the bond for Miller.

For more reporting from the Associated Press, see below.

Brown asked Judge Joel Yates to take into account the details investigators have provided "concerning the planning ... the act that caused Ms. Graber's death and the treatment of her after her death is what appears to us to be also brutal."

Alex Murdaugh Faces 27 New Charges, Stole From Dead Housekeeper, State Trooper: Prosecutors

Alex Murdaugh Faces 27 New Charges, Stole From Dead Housekeeper, State Trooper: Prosecutors Alex Murdaugh allegedly stole nearly $3.5 million meant as settlement for the sons of his housekeeper who died from a fall in their home in 2019.The investigation into the shooting and deaths of Murdaugh's wife, Maggie, and son, Paul, back in June is what led to six ongoing state investigations into Murdaugh, his family and his finances. There are still no charges in the shooting.

But President Joe Biden, who described the teenager as a 'white supremacist' during last year's US election race, said: ' While the verdict in Kenosha will leave many Americans feeling angry and concerned, myself included, we must acknowledge that the jury has spoken.' Rittenhouse opened fire with an assault-style AR-15 rifle during protests about the shooting of a black man, Jacob Blake, by a white police officer, last August. His legal team argued he had been in fear for his life because an unarmed man swung at him with a skateboard and another approached him with a pistol.

Virginia Giuffre who had accused Jeffrey Epstein of sex trafficking will not be appearing at the trial of Ghislaine Maxwell whose six-week federal trial in New York for alleged trafficking starts next week. At least four accusers are set to testify against Maxwell with three of them being granted anonymity. But Giuffre, who is one of the most well known accusers of Epstein, will not take to the stand in Maxwell's trial despite naming names of those who took part in the billionaire's alleged trafficking ring.

Moulding said there is no level of outside supervision that would ensure the safety of the community. He asked the judge to increase bond to $2 million for Miller.

Graber's body was found concealed under a tarp, wheelbarrow and railroad ties at the Chautauqua Park in Fairfield, about 95 miles southeast of Des Moines.

Police said in court documents that they received a tip that Goodale posted details about planning the killing on social media. The documents indicated police investigators found clothing that appeared to contain blood at the homes of the teens.

Court documents also allege that Miller made statements regarding being at the park when Graber was killed and about providing materials used in her death and concealing the body.

Both teens attended Fairfield High School, where Graber had taught Spanish since 2012.

Yates said he would consider arguments and filed a decision on bond next week.

Court arraignments for both are also set for Monday, but their lawyers have indicated they'll likely file written arraignment documents in which they will enter a plea, eliminating the need for another court hearing.
