  Mom Charged With Killing 6-Year-Old Son After Story Falls Apart: Police "We're all in disbelief. We all don't understand how she could let it get to this point," said a cousin of the boy.The boy, Damari Perry, was reported missing Wednesday by his family in north Chicago. At the time, his older sister, 16, told police that she and Damari had been taken to a party near Skokie, Illinois, where she had too many drinks and passed out. By the time she woke up, she explained, the boy and the man who had driven them to the party were gone.

A Connecticut woman left two children under the age of 12 to fend for themselves for 48 hours while she went out of town, according to police.

Kerry Lyn Caviasca has been charged with two counts of risk of injury to a minor and two counts of non-reckless endangerment for leaving the kids at her Waterbury home alone, Fox 61 reported Monday.

The children were home for two days and two nights while Caviasca was out of the state, according to police.

Caviasca’s relationship to the children is unclear, but officials said they were in her care.

Waterbury Public Schools, where Caviasca is employed, has placed her on leave pending an investigation.

“The alleged actions do not represent the values of our district,” the school system said in a statement to Fox 61.

Caviasca was released on a $5,000 bond and is due back in court on Jan. 25.
