Joseph "Jo Mersa" Marley, grandson of reggae legend Bob Marley and himself a respected musician, died at the age of 31. A spokesman for the artist born in Jamaica confirmed his death to the Musikmagazin Rolling Stone, but called no cause of death. According to information from the broadcaster Wzpp Radio from Miami, where Marley spent a large part of his life, he was found dead in a car on Tuesday after suffering a asthma attack.
Jamaica Prime Minister Andrew Holess wrote in the online service Twitter that he was "deeply sad" about the death message and expressed his condolences about the death message and Kerry Marley. Marley's death is a "great loss for music" and the new generation of reggae.
Marley published his debut album "Comfortable" in 2016, followed by "Eternal" in 2021. In an interview of the Rolling Stone, Marley described his growing up in his musician family in 2014 - in addition to his father Stephen, his uncle Ziggy also made music. "I came home and tried to do homework, but in the end I was distracted and stopped by in the studio," said Marley, who, according to WZPP, leaves a woman and daughter.
