This year’s Oscar nominations were announced on Tuesday morning, but as Kumail Nanjiani and Tracee Ellis Ross ran down the list of nominees for Best Directing, Best Sound Editing, Best Animated Film, and all the rest, there was one topic they didn’t touch on: Hosting duties.

Going into the nominations, there wasn’t anyone scheduled to host the 91st Academy Awards on Feb. 24; Kevin Hart had originally been selected, but the comedian stepped down from the job over old offensive tweets, and not even a big push by Ellen DeGeneres could bring him back. What might a host-less Oscars look like this year? EW’s Kristen Baldwin has a few ideas. Earlier this week, Baldwin suggested a program with multiple pop culture stars splitting the host’s typical duties, from a man-on-the-street cold open courtesy of Billy Eichner and Regina King to a cutting monologue by John Oliver.
