Bryan Singer Hit With Fresh Allegations of Sex With Underage Boys

Bryan Singer Hit With Fresh Allegations of Sex With Underage Boys Bryan Singer, the director of “Bohemian Rhapsody,” is facing new allegations published in the Atlantic on Wednesday that he engaged in sexual misconduct with underage boys. In the report, four men allege that Singer had sexual encounters with them when they were teenagers in the late 1990s. One of the men, Victor Valdovinos, says he was a 13-year-old extra on the set of “Apt Pupil” when Singer fondled his genitals. The three other accusers are identified in the story by pseudonyms. One, identified in the story as Andy, says that he had sex with Singer when he was 15.

Bryan Singer's 'Red Sonja' Movie on Hold Amid Controversy

Millennium Films is putting Red Sonja on hold amid renewed controversy surrounding director Bryan Singer.

Singer has not officially been removed as director of the film, but it is no longer on the company's slate and it is not being shopped at this year's European Film Market in Berlin, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Last month, The Atlantic published an investigative piece in which multiple new accusers claimed Singer raped them when they were underage. In the wake of the piece, Millennium Films CEO Avi Lerner released a controversial statement to THR in which called the Atlantic article "agenda driven fake news. He also said he would allow Singer to continue as director.

Bryan Singer Responds To Atlantic Report: “Homophobic Smear Piece Timed To Take Advantage Of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Success”

Bryan Singer Responds To Atlantic Report: “Homophobic Smear Piece Timed To Take Advantage Of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Success” Director Bryan Singer has responded to an exposé report published by The Atlantic this morning, which includes multiple allegations that the filmmaker had sex with underage boys and one from a man who says he was fondled at age 13 by Singer on a film set. In a message sent to us by a representative, the director said, “The last time I posted about this subject, Esquire magazine was preparing to publish an article written by a homophobic journalist who has a bizarre obsession with me dating back to 1997. After careful fact-checking and, in consideration of the lack of credible sources, Esquire chose not to publish this piece of vendetta journalism.

The statement was widely criticized, and Lerner later told THR that crisis PR guru Howard Bragman had written the statement and Lerner said he OK'd it without reading it.

"I don't want to apologize. I just want to clarify [the statement]," Lerner told THR last month. "I think victims should be heard and this allegation should be taken very, very seriously. I just don't agree to judge by the Twitter. I want [the accused] to be judged by the court."

Red Sonja would have been in the $70 million to $80 million budget with up to $10 million payday for Singer. The female-empowered story was expected to begin shooting in Bulgaria in the spring.

Ian McKellen Blames Kevin Spacey and Bryan Singer's Abuse Accusations on Them Being 'in the Closet'.
When asked about the state of the #MeToo movement, Ian McKellen said he thought the sexual misconduct that Kevin Spacey and Bryan Singer are accused of stemmed from them being "in the closet." "Most of them were in the closet. Hence, all their problems as people and their relationship with other people," the British actor, who publicly came out in 1988, said on the QueerAF podcast. "If they had been able to be open about themselves and their desires, they wouldn't have started abusing people in the way they've been accused." McKellen also wondered if any misconduct accusations might one day surface about him.
