Rapper Nipsey Hussle shot multiple times in South L.A. Rapper Nipsey Hussle was shot multiple times Sunday afternoon in South Los Angeles, law enforcement sources said. The shooting occurred in the Hyde Park neighborhood. His condition was unknown. Los Angeles police had closed off the area as the investigation continued. Hussle, born Ermias Asghedom, was from South L.A. and has talked in the past about his early life in a street gang. He is a well-known community organizer who most recently was involved in the new Destination Crenshaw arts project. He told The Times in 2018 that he managed to develop a love of music and technology. “I grew up in gang culture,” he said. “We dealt with death, with murder.

LOS ANGELES — The man suspected of killing rapper Nipsey Hussle has been charged with murder and two counts of attempted murder.

Los Angeles County prosecutors filed the charges against 29-year-old Eric Holder, who is set to appear in court Thursday afternoon. He has not yet entered a plea, and it's not clear whether he has an attorney.

Holder was arrested in the Los Angeles area on Tuesday.

Authorities say Holder and Hussle, who knew each other, has several conversations Sunday outside the rapper's South LA clothing store. They say Holder eventually returned with a handgun and shot Hussle, who was declared dead at a hospital. He also wounded two other men.

If convicted, Holder faces life in prison.

"We must stop this senseless violence," says Los Angeles police Chief Michel Moore. The victims were described as three African-American men and one African-American woman all between the ages of 30 to 50, said Moore via social media. It is unclear which victim died. Suspects in gray Hyundai fired on the victims, the chief said. "We must stop this senseless violence," Moore added. Enormous crowds gathered Thursday to pay their respects to Hussle as his body was carried from the public funeral at Staples Center to South L.A. where he was born and raised.
