Scott Wolf on 'Heartbreaking' Death of Everwood Co-Star Stephanie Niznik: 'I'm Lucky to Have Known Her'
Scott Wolf, who played Dr. Jake Hartman during the final two seasons of the beloved family drama Everwood, is paying tribute to his former TV love interest, the late Stephanie Niznik, who died at the age of 52. Niznik’s passing was first announced on Friday, though a cause of death has not been reported. She passed away unexpectedly in Encino, Calif. on June 23. “This is heartbreaking,” Wolf wrote on Twitter. “She was so kind, and so fun to work with. I’m lucky to have known her. Rest In Peace Stephanie.” Niznik was best known for her role as Everwood‘s Nina Feeney, next-door neighbor (and eventual love interest) to Treat Williams’ Dr. Andy Brown.

Rutger Hauer, ‘Blade Runner’ Co-Star, Dies at 75
Rutger Hauer, the versatile Dutch leading man of the ’70s who went on star in the 1982 “Blade Runner” as Roy Batty, died July 19 at his home in the Netherlands after a short illness. He was 75. Hauer’s agent, Steve Kenis, confirmed the news and said that Hauer’s funeral was held Wednesday. His most cherished performance came in a film that was a resounding flop on its original release. In 1982, he portrayed the murderous yet soulful Roy Batty, leader of a gang of outlaw replicants, opposite Harrison Ford in Ridley Scott’s sci-fi noir opus “Blade Runner.
“I am frustrated, I don’t have a lot of answers; I wish I had more,” Burke said Monday. “I heard at the end of June that there were allegations and an investigation has been launched. We are waiting for answers… As soon as we learn more, we will make determination based on what’s found.”
She expressed hope that the third-party investigation launched by eOne would produce “results that are independent and trustworthy.”
Those conclusions “will guide us how to handle similar situations in the future,” Burke added when asked about a possible communications breakdown as Williamson alleges that the series’ showrunner had not acted on her complaints about racial discrimination and sexual harassment.
In herover the weekend, Williamson, who played John Nolan’s (Nathan Fillion) training officer Talia Bishop on The Rookie, explained why she will not be returning for Season 2. She claims that she quit the ABC series because of systematic racism/racially charged comments, bullying, and sexual harassment, which remained largely ignored by the producers of the show until the sexual harassment by the head of the hair department escalated to sexual assault at the wrap party and the person was fired.

It was announced today at TCA that Amazon’s Transparent musical finale will drop on Sept. 27 on Prime. For quite some time, Jill Soloway wanted to create a musical with her sister Faith, a writer and consulting producer on the show. “What we went through over the past couple of years, we needed to find a new way to enter this story,” said Soloway at TCA today without specifically mentioning Jeffrey Tambor’s departure from the series in the wake of sexual harassment allegations. “This was our chance to heal together,” said Soloway, “every time we improvised, sang, or danced together, we were trying to work back to that holy belief of what was important.
