Verizon is giving Unlimited customers 12 months of Disney+ for free

Verizon is giving Unlimited customers 12 months of Disney+ for free Verizon (Engadget's parent company) is offering 12 months of Disney+ to all of its new and existing 4G LTE and 5G Unlimited wireless customers. New Verizon Fios Home Internet and 5G Home Internet customers will get 12 months of the new streaming service too. The offer begins November 12th, the same day Disney+ launches. This makes Verizon the exclusive Disney+ carrier, and it could help Disney+ better compete with Apple TV+, which launches on November 1st. Apple recently announced that anyone who buys an iPhone, iPad, Apple TV or Mac will get a free one-year subscription to its service.

After much fan outcry, Disney has announced that plans are being made to allow Disney+ users to watch classic episodes of "The Simpsons" in their original aspect ratio format.

When the new streaming service launched this past Tuesday, one of the big perks on offer was the first 30 seasons of "The Simpsons"; a major reason why Disney bought Fox earlier this year. But "Simpsons" fans complained that dozens of visual gags had been cut out by switching older episodes from their original 4:3 ratio to a 16:9 widescreen ratio. "The Simpsons" didn't actually make that jump until midway through their 20th season in 2009.

In a statement, Disney+ said that the decision was made to switch the episodes to widescreen "to guarantee visual quality and consistency across all 30 seasons." The service is developing an option to allow users to switch to 4:3 for pre-2009 episodes that will roll out early next year.
