Viva Elvis: Rookie shines for streaking Blue Jackets

Viva Elvis: Rookie shines for streaking Blue Jackets COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) Just before he heads to the tunnel after a win, Columbus Blue Jackets goalie Elvis Merzlikins gets a running start and leaps into the arms of captain Nick Foligno in joyful celebration. The ''jump hug'' is a big thing in Columbus these days - just like Elvis. The 25-year-old Latvian rookie, all tattoos and confidence, has quickly become a fan favorite at Nationwide Arena, where Elvis Presley songs are being added to the game day playlist and are blaring from the bars outside. The feeling is mutual.

With "I Do It," Wayne nabbed his 82nd career top 40 Hot 100 hit , bypassing Elvis as the second artist with the most hits in the chart's history. Wayne is having a pretty good week so far. Flyers 4, Blue Jackets 3 | Overtime loss another painful blow for Jackets .
With 20 games left in the regular season, it's premature to call the Blue Jackets' 4-3 overtime loss Thursday against Philadelphia a mortal blow. But it's hard to avoid a sense that things are beginning to slip away. The Jackets had a pair of two-goal leads but couldn't hang on and lost their seventh straight game. Kevin Hayes' goal with 1:09 left in overtime was the game-winner. The Jackets lost 5-1 at Philadelphia on Tuesday in a game that featured some fluky Flyers goals. The Flyers' victory allowed them to overtake the Jackets in the wild-card standings, and the Jackets relished an immediate rematch. That's what made this loss all the more painful.
