In a video posted to Twitter Friday, the host apologized for the comments.

"I did not mean to offend my LGBTQ+ community," she said. "One thing I can tell you right now is I never do the show in a place of malice"

She continued, getting emotional, "I didn't mean to hurt anybody's feelings. I'm just having a conversation. If you know me long enough, then you know... I'm not out of touch, except for perhaps yesterday for saying what I said. So I deeply apologize... I will do better."

Her initial remarks were immediately denounced as "transphobic" and "homophobic" across social media, with many calling for the star to be "canceled," referring to a form of boycott.
