The singer and actress, 74, introduced the 58-year-old recording artist as a 'true music legend and my friend.'

Brooks responded: 'Getting the award you got makes me feel cool and cool is never a word I would use to describe me.'

He and his band Brooks and his band opened with The Thunder Rolls and went on to perform bits from Callin' Baton Rouge, The River, Standing Outside the Fire, That Summer, Dive Bar, Friends in Low Places, and finishing up with The Dance.
