A little over two years after the death of Charles Aznavour, his son Nicolas defended his origins in an open letter to the Israeli president.

It is in the Haaretz newspaper that Nicolas, the son of Charles Aznavour, published his open letter. He turns to Reuven Rivlin, the President of Israel, asking him to stop the arms trade with Azerbaijan, which clashes with separatists in Nagorno-Karabakh, a region populated by Armenians.

He explains: "Israel, established by the survivors and descendants of the Holocaust, cannot turn a blind eye or participate in the genocide that Azerbaijan, with the help of the Turkish government, is preparing to commit in Armenia."
