The Art Week in Avignon, which replaced the International Theater Festival canceled in July, stops Thursday evening due to new containment measures, organizers announced.
Two days canceled
"The management of the Festival has taken note of the new government measures. The conditions are no longer met today for the Art Week in Avignon to continue as initially planned," they said in a press release.
"The last performances will take place this Thursday, October 29 and we are canceling the performances, debates, meetings and visits from the morning of October 30," they added. Two programming days, those of Friday and Saturday, are therefore canceled. Ticket buyers should be contacted for a refund.
Capital of the theater every July, the City of the Popes has been deprived this year of its 150,000 visitors who are fans of the performing arts, due to the Covid-19 epidemic.
